The importance of brain nutrition

Proper nutrition means a healthy body and a healthy mind. But busy lifestyles and everyday pressures often mean you miss out on vital nutrients, which can lead to not being at the top of your game!

Your brain is like the control room for your whole body. The first thing that happens when there’s a nutrient shortage is a short circuit in your mental function. Confusion, mood changes and memory malfunction are just some of the signs that you should probably be taking brain health supplements.

Ideally, you should be getting the vitamins you need from a healthy diet, but for many people, this is hard to achieve, so brain supplements contain specific food compounds and vitamins that have been proven to help plug any nutritional gaps and most importantly, keep your brain running like a well-oiled machine. These include:

Acetyl L-Carnitine:
Important for supporting physical and mental energy levels and helping improve focus.

L-Theanine:
Helps your brain relax without having a sedative effect, and also increases alpha brain wave activity.

L-Tyrosine:
Is an amino acid, and a pre-cursor for three important neurotransmitters: dopamine, norepinephrine and adrenaline.

Caffeine:
Probably the most recognisable brain enhancer, as it improves alertness and increases your working memory.

Matcha Green Tea:
Has anti-anxiety effects and is often hailed as a memory enhancer.

Vitamin B12:
Is important for the brain function and has been used in the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease and to help boost mood and energy.

Niacin:
Another B-group vitamin that has loads of benefits including supporting healthy cholesterol and improving brain function.
